Talking to a Psychiatrist is Not Scary
You don’t have to wait for severe symptoms to consult a psychiatrist. If you’re experiencing insomnia, anxiety, stress, or depression, it’s okay to seek advice. Pay attention to yourself, and if you notice any of these symptoms, consider consulting a psychiatrist:
- Stress and anxiety can occur at any stage of life: during school, work, building a career, or starting a family. Stress can cause worry, headaches, reduced appetite, insomnia, and lack of concentration in studies or work. If you experience these symptoms, consult a psychiatrist.
- Hearing voices or seeing images that others don’t, hearing voices talking or calling you from afar, hearing multiple people arguing or discussing, or experiencing hallucinations and paranoia that someone wants to harm you.
- Neglecting self-care, feeling bored and unwilling to do anything, neglecting personal hygiene, not bathing, not washing hair, and not changing clothes.
- Severe anxiety and fear. These symptoms are self-experienced and observable by others, such as sweating, palpitations, numbness in hands and feet, cold body, nausea, abdominal discomfort, headaches, and feeling out of control.
- Avoiding social interactions, not talking to anyone, feeling exhausted and discouraged, possibly becoming overly fixated on specific things.
If you or someone around you starts to show these symptoms, consult a psychiatrist. Without proper intervention, these issues can lead to further disorders or diseases.
