- Upper abdomen ultrasound to detect abnormalities in the upper abdominal organs, including the liver, pancreas, gallbladder, bile ducts, spleen, and kidneys
- Barium swallowing to assess swallowing and aspiration, esophageal motility, and esophageal abnormalities
- Upper GI series to examine the swallowing mechanism, esophagus, stomach, and the beginning of the small intestine
